Windmill and Wide Open Spaces
It is the quintessential image of West Texas in autumn, when the green is gone, the wind picks up, and the sky is a perfect shade of baby blue almost every day. To the outsider, the Panhandle landscape may appear void, an empty space with nothing to catch the eye. For the native, the open air gives room to breathe and the steady wind makes the wheat grass roll over the land like ocean waves. As the foliage turns and the shades of Amarillo fade, take a moment to appreciate wide open spaces.
